Aviation Dream Homes
The art of flight combines aspects of functionality with a luxurious entertaining perspective thousands of feet above the Earth.
According to physics, the definition of power is work over elapsed time. Work is the product of a force acting on an object times the distance that the object moves. It takes more mechanical or physical energy to move ourselves through space within less time. This is the basics of thrust acting on an aircraft.
To compare the concept of work, It takes more cognitive energy to perceive work over an extended period of time to reach a certain distance. This makes engaging in personal travel one of the most influential or ‘powerful’ modes of existence for a human. The experience is an enchanting gravity defying feat that immortally dilates the measurement of time.
An example is someone with a home in Santa Barbara and an office in West LA. They have enough energy and mechanical resources to travel via flight 95 miles in 45 minutes versus via automobile in 1 hour 45 minutes. They could be said to be more than twice as powerful when comparing that action. For individuals with time valued at more than $1k/hr, it makes more sense for them to fly instead of drive. To make a commute this far daily, the value for travel is covered after 2,000 roundtrips for approximately $4 million worth of personal aircraft & maintenance. It becomes a viable investment, especially if the vehicle can provide service for a decade or more.
The methods of air transportation are changing with electric battery advancements along with more efficient jet engines and automated flight computing technology. This will allow for a broader range of certified partial-pilots or even plainly competent passengers to operate artificially intelligent computers that handle the full range of flight operations.
One of the most exciting air vehicle advancements is the development of Lilium Jet. It is a regional mobility vehicle with innovative rotating four wings and 36 jet engines that provide near-instantaneous thrust and lift in almost any direction. Designed for low noise and vertical takeoff, it makes the perfect object of desire for any influencer. While not meant to be a luxury product, the design of these aircraft is futuristic and slightly amorphous with a contemporary sporty panache. The cost of these commuter models when packaged at bulk rate, arrives at $734k/unit with a yearly operating expense of $211k - $542k per year depending on battery development. This changes the affordability of regional travel to as little as $70 when considering distances such as 14 miles. Comparable to a taxi. Longer regional distances might be as much as $250 - $480, perhaps with less airport hassle.
Vehicles that allow for increased regional mobility will allow for people to broaden their geospatial lifestyles. In dense metropolitan cities, it is more challenging to move quickly over distances than in rural locations. With quieter advanced vertical takeoff flight vehicles, the ability to move far — fast — changes.
Regional mobility flight vehicles are perfect for ultra high net worth property owners to add as a unique part of their vehicle collection. A transportation product that confidently reaches the stratosphere with limited effort will be the ultimate way to reach the office, weekend yacht, country home, or to be admired at a residence as an industrial marvel.
Similar to how luxury home auto galleries have catapulted to the forefront of many collector’s residential designs, landing ports with large gallery windows attached to the home may be the most desirable way to showcase the mechanical masterpieces while entertaining friends and family. The flight vehicle, always ready for the next adventure, then becomes an integral and sought after part of a contemporary luxury lifestyle.
Home associations in private neighborhood developments may decide to create a dedicated landing port for these types of vehicles to share cost and consolidate a residential flight process. This would prevent area flight disruptions, and provide a more sustainable collaborative. For those ready to take lessons to get a pilots license, CFI Review offers Certified Flight Instructor to ratings for students around the globe.
A neighborhood in California, Cameron Airpark Estates, is specifically designed with air flight in mind. While this airpark is set up with an airstrip to accommodate many small planes, most neighborhoods in the city can’t reconcile the clunky designs of hangar garages and wide landing strips. A vertical air pad and hangar would be more attractive to merge into a luxury regional mobility hub.
As transportation continues to become more technologically advanced, the luxury market will be quick to embrace these new modes of exciting ways to move about our world. From earth to air to sea to space, the desire to travel is an innate part of our lifestyle.
